Johanna Skitt
Johanna is a GR volunteer and supporter extraordinaire. Since 2021, when she lost her Golden, Johanna has been an active GR supporter, donor, and volunteer. After her loss, she rescued Jackson #4254 from Istanbul and fell in love with him and the organization. Since then, she has tirelessly worked to help Goldens get the second chance they deserve. She has fostered, participated at events, and lead the coalition to amend the CFIA ban. A native of Vancouver, she flew to Ottawa to take part in our first CFIA ban rally. Johanna has also done airport pickups, transports, and is always on standby to help new fosters when they have questions or concerns. Johanna has been of particular help when Goldens come into the program with difficult medical issues. She is well-experienced in nursing them back to health~a skill that is sorely needed from time to time. Johanna shares her life with three rescues~Steven (from Chile), Norman, and Mars. Here’s what Johanna says about working with Golden Rescue: “There are so many dogs that need us and it can be scary to open your heart and home to a rescue, especially if it’s your first time, but the support GR offers from the first point of contact makes it incredibly easy and unbelievably rewarding. Golden Rescue truly feels like family.”Thank you, Johanna, for all you do. Your support in so many areas is truly invaluable and we love your sunny and positive outlook.
