Daisy and Hazel with Dale

Golden Angels Dale Goddard & Richard Charron

Many years ago, after adopting a second Golden from Golden Rescue, Dale began volunteering at Golden Rescue booths at various community events. This led to more involvement with Golden Rescue through the years. Currently Dale, along with support from her husband Richard, volunteers in three areas of Golden Rescue ~ as a member of the Intake Team, as the Vet Record Transfer Coordinator, and assisting with yearly follow-up calls to adoptive families.…

Jennifer and Jamie with Ginger #2417 and Leia

Golden Angels Jennifer & Jamie Simmonds

Jennifer and Jamie have loved dogs all their life. One day, on a visit to the humane society, their children saw a Golden in her pen with a sign that said “Caution: hyper”. She looked so pathetic that they begged their parents to foster her so, with a huge leap of faith, they did. It was the best thing they ever did. Leia was not hyper at all. She was just like all Goldens, she craved attention and TLC.…

Mike and Kelly

Golden Angels Kelly Blais & Mike Kakuk

Kelly started volunteering for GR in 2005. Not long after that, she adopted a wonderful bonded pair ~ George #682 and Murphy #683. A few years later, Kelly met Mike and this new family became the four musketeers and avid fans and volunteers for Golden Rescue. Mike also caught ‘golden fever’ and the two have manned our GR booth at events and done transports and home visits. Kelly works incredibly hard as the interim co-team-lead of the social media team.…

Joan with Woody #1556 and Brody

Golden Angels John & Joan Stalker

Joan and John are long-time supporters of Golden Rescue. After losing two of their four Goldens after almost 13 years, the household got a bit quiet, despite still having three cats and a horse.  So, Joan and John decided to foster and they have taken on a couple of special needs Goldens as well.

“We are so impressed with the ethical standards and professionalism of this organization and the tireless dedication of its many volunteers.

Mia Ben and Max #1960

Golden Angels Mia Wilkinson

Mia might be described as one of our more humble supporters who doesn’t think she does as much as she could so we keep asking Mia to do more and more for our Goldens…and she always says ‘yes’ willingly. Mia has basically helped us with almost everything. Living with three senior Goldens (16, 15, and 14) Mia had the idea that if she began to foster, when her Goldens crossed the Rainbow Bridge, that fostering might ease the trauma.…

Ira with Jake

Golden Angels Ira Kargel

Ira has been a Golden lover since childhood. Unable to have a Golden growing up as dog hair was a no-no in her family home, she got two Golden pups, Wisper and Dakota, as soon as she graduated university. From that day forward, Ira has surrounded herself with Goldens. In recent years, Ira is one of GR’s staunchest advocates. Ira, like most Golden lovers, didn’t know about GR. One day, a volunteer asked for a donation for the Golden Rescue picnic and Ira was so excited about the idea of many Goldens in one place, she made a donation and attended the picnic for the first time.…

Sheri and Barry with Buzz #1386

Golden Angels Sheri & Barry Dell

This generous couple give freely of their time to Golden Rescue in so many ways and since 2007 they have fostered, transported our precious cargo, done home visits and behavioural evaluations, and adopted four of our Goldens ~ Lucky #793, Pico #1071, Buzz #1386 and Cooper #2098. They are valuable members of the intake team…one of the toughest roles in the GR organization. They are incredibly compassionate and organized and a pleasure to work with.…

Thank you to our volunteers

Golden Angels The Supporters Behind the Support

These Golden Angels are sometimes not seen, but their contribution is immeasurable. They support our volunteers who provide so much time to our cause. These are the partners, children, friends, and spouses who have good-heartedly dived into events, tackled assignments, ramped up new initiatives or toiled over all-consuming administrative tasks that are never ending and increasingly vital to keep Golden Rescue running at full speed. Kudos to all those who have: Driven with a car-full of Golden Rescue paraphernalia to ensure the success of an event Provided advice, generated ideas, served as a sounding board Sold lottery tickets at work, in the hockey arena, on a little league soccer field or to the neighbours Stuffed envelopes Accompanied a spouse or partner to a home visit Run never-ending errands Relinquished your leisure time to help your partner/volunteer ~ especially at events Ventured out of your comfort zone doing new things that you never dreamed possible nor signed up for Smiled through the pouring rain and baking heat at events to spread the word about our Goldens in need Willingly cleaned up the mess at our beloved Istanbul arrival events Transported Goldens to their foster homes Dedicated your heart and soul to so many Goldens in need in a multitude of ways You are our silent angels and for that we will always be grateful and thankful that you are in our lives.
