Murphy 1413 Jude

Golden Angels Jude Heather

Jude lost her nine-year-old Golden and six months later their 14-year-old crossed the Rainbow Bridge. This was devastating and their house was no longer a home. One day not too long after, a Golden Rescue email found its way into her inbox with a picture of two seniors looking for a forever family. Jude filled in an application but by then the two seniors had been adopted. They, however, found Murphy #1413 ~ a beautiful 11-year-old girl and the love affair began.…

The Kalmegess clan

Golden Angels Mike & Terri Newey

Mike and Terri had dogs long before they had children. Total dog lovers, this couple have had many breeds including their beloved Nova Scotia Duck Toller Retrievers. After Mike retired from GM, they started their own business ~ Kalmegess Kennels, which started with boarding and expanded into grooming, day care, and training. In 2010, they helped Golden Rescue considerably when we acquired multiple Goldens who were in bad shape. Mike and Terri took three under their wing…two intact males and a pregnant female.…

Shannon and Jeff_with_Saige__Masen__Goldens_Georgia__Sadie_Angels

Golden Angels Shannon & Jeff McKenzie

Shannon and Jeff and their children, Saige and Masen, are wonderful additions to GR’s volunteer family. They are fantastic fosters and in their two short years with GR have already fostered eight Goldens. They first heard of GR when out hiking with their Golden Sadie when they encountered a couple with six Goldens. They were GR fosters and expressed to Shannon and Jeff how fulfilling it was to foster. They came home and immediately went to the GR website…and the rest is history.…

Kate Haddad-Jones

Golden Angels Kate Haddad-Jones

Kate, a long time Golden lover, started volunteering for Golden Rescue during her mat leave. She had volunteered with her local humane society; however, her heart has always been with Goldens so she thought Golden Rescue was the perfect fit for her. Lucky us! Kate had volunteered for events and tag days but she wanted to help on a more consistent basis. There was a need on the social media team, a perfect fit for Kate, and the social media team welcomed her with open arms.…

Carol & Tom Schoeps

Golden Angels Carol & Tom Schoeps

Carol and Tom started volunteering for Golden Rescue at events in 2004 after they adopted their first Golden, Prince #434.  They adopted their second Golden, Reily #814 and currently share their home with Lochlann #1905.  Carol started volunteering on the hotline and then joined the volunteer coordinator team and eventually accepted the role as team lead.  Tom, who was about to retire, jumped in to help Carol, as she found herself with a lot on her plate as she also took on the Team Resources role. …

Vaughan Kitson

Golden Angels Vaughan Kitson

Vaughan and his wife Lynda have loved and owned Goldens for over 25 years.  This amazing volunteer and Golden lover first was introduced to Golden Rescue at our booth at The Pickering Markets.  He, like many others, was stunned to learn that there were Goldens who needed rescuing.  After talking to a number of volunteers, he decided to get involved and help wherever he could.  Currently, Vaughan is our event valuator, which involves researching events throughout Ontario to see if they might be a fit for us. …
