Hi everyone…my name is Oliver and I’m three years old.  I was pretty skittish when I first entered the GR program.  It took me a while to understand what was going on and I definitely had trust issues.  Pretty soon, however, I realized that everyone I met, including my amazing foster family, only wanted the best for me.  Even today, I seem to take to some people right away and others make me nervous and, if I’m nervous, I bark at them ~ not sure why!  I guess there was something in my previous life that left me cautious of certain people.  Overall, however, I love people and love being made a fuss over.  I love other dogs but I’m not a fan of small, yappy dogs.  I used to be fine with cats (I lived with two before); however, not long ago a kitten was running free in the house and it jumped into my water bowl.  I freaked and bit her.  It was a traumatic experience for everyone including me.  Nothing like that has happened since though but a home without cats would be best.  I’m a healthy boy but I do need eye drops every day.  My wonderful foster mom says I’m a really sweet, smart boy.  That sure makes me feel all squishy inside.  But more about me…I don’t like loud noises like thunder, loud music, raised voices, etc. ~ they all make me nervous.  I’d probably be best in a quiet home with no children.  I do like my exercise so a big fenced backyard would be a great.  I’m not a fan of the car but I have resigned myself to go in it as I know we have to travel occasionally.  I know my commands and am actually pretty good on the leash.  I am good in the house even if I’m alone ~ I am not destructive at all and I don’t even counter-surf (although if you left something super yummy right on the edge, I can’t guarantee it will be there when you get back 😊).  Well, good people at Golden Rescue, that’s the skinny about me.  I’d love to meet you to see if we click.  As much as I love my foster family, I understand it is time to move on and although that makes me nervous it’s also a bit exciting.

Oliver is currently being fostered in the London, ON area. If you would like more information about Oliver please call our hot-line toll free at 1-866-712-8444 or email and one of our volunteers will be happy to return your call.
