Hi everyone.  My name is Lucky and I’m between 6-8 years old.  They call me Lucky and, if you ask me, it’s because I am a very lucky boy.  Let me tell you why.  Firstly, I came from the streets of Cairo two years ago.  How lucky was I to be chosen to come to Canada, right?  Secondly, I have a kidney disease and the doc only gave me a few months to live.  That was two years ago…so, again, I’m lucky!  Now, they are saying my kidneys have stabilized with medication and although I may not have a long life ahead of me, they think I’m going to be fine for a few years but of course, no one has a crystal ball, right?  So, Lucky again!  Thirdly, I am being looked after by my amazing foster family who have given me care, love, kindness, and joy.  See what I mean…such a lucky boy, eh?  And see my ‘eh’ ~ I am truly a Canadian now.  Fourthly, the good folks at Golden Rescue are now saying as I seem to have stabilized that I should be given a last name.  In other words, they want me to live out my remaining years with my ‘forever family’.  As much as I love my foster family, I would be the luckiest boy ever to find a forever home, a last name, and a permanent place to hang my head at night.  So, if you might have that space for me, here’s what else you need to know.  My medication is costly…around $300 bones a month.  My special dog food is also expensive.  Sooooo sorry about that.  I love people and female dogs but I don’t like male dogs and can get scrappy around them.  So, the feeling is that I’d be okay outside in a fenced yard and that walks are not necessary if I get my exercise in the yard.  And a female canine companion is probably great.  Other than that, I’m your typical loving, goofy Golden.  I know my commands.  I’m not a big barker.  I can be left alone if you have to go out without me although I’d prefer to have you around.  I don’t love loud noises but I don’t go crazy either.  You can please touch me anywhere.  I am gentle with my treats and I don’t jump up.  I have been described by my lovely foster family as “loving, loyal, easy going, calm, playful, and a joy to have around”.  Now coming from Egypt, I’m not sure what all those words mean but I have a feeling they’re pretty good.  If you think so too, is there any chance you would give me a last name?  This is Lucky Soon-to-Have-a-Last-Name saying bye for now.

Lucky is currently being fostered in the Windsor, ON area. If you would like more information about Lucky please call our hot-line toll free at 1-866-712-8444 or email and one of our volunteers will be happy to return your call.
