Layla, you got me on my knees, Layla

I beg you darling please, Layla

Darling won’t you ease my troubled mind

Oh, sorry everyone, I was listening to my favourite Eric Clapton song, Layla.  As you might have already guessed, my name is Layla and I’m four years old and it’s not just Eric who loves me…everyone I meet loves me.  I’m a cuddle-bunny and I love being made a fuss over.  In fact, I’m sometimes called ‘Smiley’ because I smile a lot ~ that’s because I love life so much.  I’ve been living with my amazing foster family, who have been working on my ‘guarding issues’.  You see, in my previous life, people used to grab things out of my mouth and I didn’t like that.  Mind you, I’ve been told no human should grab anything out of a dog’s mouth.  That makes sense.  Anyway, I have been trained to ’drop it’ on command and I got 100% on my test.  So as long as you don’t grab anything from me, that habit seems to be gone.  Pretty good, eh?  The other thing about me is, although I like many dogs, I don’t like yappy, aggressive, alpha dogs.  If a dog is aggressive with me, I will stand my ground and I can get nasty (and I have) but as long as they are cool, I’m cool.  So, probably dog parks are out for me as it would be wise to keep me away from dominant dogs.  I am not a big barker.  Loud noises don’t bother me and you can touch me anywhere ~ in fact, please do (teehee).  I know my commands and I’m actually not too bad on the leash.  My favourite thing, other than belly rubs, is rolling around in the grass on my back and chewing a stick.  You can buy me a toy or two but if you’d rather save money, a good old-fashioned stick is my absolute first choice.  I get skin irritations, which is being helped with this new medication but other than that, the doc says I’m healthy.  Well, that’s me in a nutshell.  I’ll close now and go back to listening to Eric…Layla, you got me…

Layla is currently being fostered in the York Region, ON area. If you would like more information about Layla please call our hot-line toll free at 1-866-712-8444 or email and one of our volunteers will be happy to return your call.
