It is heartwarming to have received so much interest in Oakley; however, we are no longer accepting inquiries for  Oakley as we are having trouble responding to everyone.  Thank you again for considering!

Hi everyone my name is Oakley and I’m a one-year-old pup.  I am full of energy and joie de vivre.  I loooooove my walks and it is hard to tire me out.  But hey, I am a healthy puppy…what do you expect?  I am working hard on the leash thing and I do better with a halter but I get distracted easily, particularly if I see another dog.  I don’t get aggressive.  I just pull like crazy to get closer.  I have been described as smart, energetic, and loving ~ all pretty good words I’m told.  My wonderful foster family thinks I’d be better with another dog in the house to help me expend my energy and they say a large fenced backyard is a must.  I sure would love that if it wouldn’t be too much trouble.  Because of my energy level, it would be better if there were no small children in the family.  Older ones who could enjoy my energy would be fine.  I’m not a big barker.  You can leave me alone if you have to go out without me.  Loud noises don’t bother me and you can touch me anywhere.  I’m not particularly gentle with my treats but I’m still on a learning curve, right?  According to the doc, I’m healthy and as I’m basically still in school, my foster family is recommending I get a trainer to help me complete my education.  I’m okay with that as long as I get a certificate to hang on the wall when I graduate.  Nothing fancy mind you.  Maybe something like: “Oakley successfully and diligently mastered all there is to know about living in a human’s world and graduated Suma Come Loudly with a PHD and has gained the right and privilege to be referred to as Doctor Oakley, P.H.D. (Phenomenal Honorable Dog), and G.G.A.L (Graduated Golden At Large), M.O.C.A. (Master of Canine Arts).

Something simple like that!

Oakley is currently being fostered in the Grand Bend, ON area. If you would like more information about Oakley please call our hot-line toll free at 1-866-712-8444 or email adoption@goldenrescue.ca and one of our volunteers will be happy to return your call.
