Hi everyone my name is Fred and I’m five years old. I was a little timid when I first met the good folks at GR but I’m relaxed now…now that I know that everyone, particularly my wonderful foster family, only want the best for me. I’m a lucky boy to be so loved. I am a Golden who knows my stuff. I’m even really good on the leash. I have a little bit of mouthing and toy guarding issues but even those, with the help of my foster dad, are already a lot better. I love people and other dogs unless the other dog is pushy or aggressive. But I don’t think you humans like pushy, aggressive behaviour either, right? I love my car rides and jump into the car easily. I’m not a big barker. I don’t like thunder but it doesn’t freak me out either. You can leave me alone if you have to go out without me. You can touch me anywhere but I don’t like sudden lunging moves or hugs. I am gentle with my treats and I pretty much ignore squirrels (not cat tested so not sure about them). I am a bit of a fussy eater but maybe that’s all part of my regal pedigree (ha-ha). After all, my amazing fosters describe me as a ‘distinguished gentleman’. The doc says I’m healthy but I do have some early signs of hip dysplasia. It certainly doesn’t slow me down in any way but the doc says we should just keep an eye on it. Well, that’s my story. I have been described by my foster family as an ‘awesome companion’. WOW! If you choose, me I will try really hard to live up to that description.

Fred is currently being fostered in the Sault Ste Marie, ON area. If you would like more information about Fred call our hotline toll-free at 1-866-712-8444 or email and one of our volunteers will be happy to return your call.
