Hi everyone…my name is Penny and I’m four years old.  When I first came into the GR program, I was really afraid and bewildered ~ I just didn’t know what was happening.  I was particularly terrified of the indoors.  In my previous life, I always lived outside.  Loud noises were also really scary for me.  In time, however, my wonderful foster family showed me they only wanted the best for me and I started to trust.  These days, I love hanging out inside on the floor close to my family.  In fact, being close to these wonderful people is my favourite thing.  They make a fuss over me and I simply love it ~ didn’t have any of that in my early years (OMG…did I ever miss out!).  I still don’t love loud noises but I don’t freak out anymore.  I have learned to trust humans…in fact, I love all the new people I meet.  When I meet dogs, I tend to lunge at them on the leash and I’m VERY strong.  There has never been an aggressive incident but I need a lot more socialization to understand how I am going to be with other dogs.  I have learned so much already so my foster mom thinks that if you are patient with me or take me to school, I might settle with regards to behaving around other dogs.  Based on this, I think cats are out of the question. I am learning my commands and I listen better inside than outside.  Outside there are too many distractions.  That leash thingy is a work-in-progress and I have to admit I’m a puller…big time!  You can leave me alone if you have to go out without me.  I am gentle with my treats.  I’m not a big barker, you can touch me anywhere (and often as you like 😊) and the doc says I’m healthy.  I am, however, not spayed yet and that will have to be done after my next ‘heat’…whatever that is.  My foster mom describes me as a really sweet, smart girl who loves being part of the family.  I do have lots of energy to burn so if you are an active bunch, I might be perfect for you.  Well, that’s my story.  Thank you GR for rescuing me and showing me the delights of living inside as part of a family ~ I just love it.
