Hi…my name is Ebony and I’m a 3-year-old Black Golden (as if you couldn’t tell that from the pictures). My amazing foster dad and teacher describes me as a beautiful, highly-intelligent boy with tons of energy. I think that’s a pretty good report card from a teacher who knows these things. In fact, I feel a little proud of myself. The ‘tons of energy’ part is really true. I am full of the joys of spring and I love any activity that will tire me out. When I’m tired, I’m particularly good and loving (ha-ha). The doc says I’m healthy except I have a grade one heart murmur. It’s the mildest murmur you can have and there is no necessary treatment so the doc isn’t worried about it.
As you can see here, I love people and I bond to one person, preferably with a dominant male, especially if he is into giving belly rubs, which is my favourite thing.
I am not good with other dogs and will bark, growl, and lunge at them, so no small children or cats either. I love my car rides and really love my walkies, although I can be a bit reactive on my walks in meeting dogs. With a thing called a gentle leader, I’m even getting better on the leash, but if you have a secure, fenced yard, that would be all I need. I am gentle with my treats but when it’s dinner time, I can get a little too excited and will bark if you’re not fast enough (so I guess patience isn’t my best thing). My teacher is definitely working on this and I’m starting to get it but, oh my gosh, I do love my food. You can leave me alone if you have to go out without me but I don’t particularly like it ~ this might also change in time. You can touch me anywhere (and please do), loud noises don’t bother me, and of course I’m totally house-trained but can get impatient if I ask to go out and you ignore me. But hey, who likes to be ignored? Well, that’s about it for me. My foster dad says to remind you I’m really smart so it would be best to find a family who will continue my education to make me the absolute best boy I can be.
