Hi everyone. My name Is Olaf, pronounced by my amazing foster dad/teacher as ‘oh laugh’ as I am such a happy boy ~ always, always happy to see you. I’m a 5-year-old boy who originally came from Cairo. BTW, I wasn’t so ‘happy’ there, I have to tell you. It’s not a great place to be a stray dog. There, I had to fight for my food, my life, and my space, which left me growly with other dogs. My foster dad has been teaching me how to behave, and guess what? I’m told I’m now ready to join a forever family. Yikes ~ that’s scary exciting. Initially, I was very protective of my toys and food (for obvious reasons) but my guru/teacher taught me a command called ‘drop it’. Now I understand. If you want something I have, never grab it from me…just ask me to drop it and I will. Pretty good, eh?

As you can see here, I’m simply a happy and energetic boy and I get so excited about going outside to play with my favourite toy. But when I come in, I love tons of affection and being petted.

Hmmm…playing with my toys or being fussed over…it’s a tough decision on which one I like the best. I must admit that I love the back of my ears and neck scratched and I could stand in front of you for hours with my favourite toy in my mouth begging for attention and rubs while you tell me what a good boy I am. As you know, I’m not well socialized with other dogs…not my best thing and still isn’t, unfortunately. So, I need to be the only pet in the home and if you have a big backyard for me to run and exercise in, that would be great. So sorry about that. I am simply a people dog, who will give you 150% of my affection, love, gratitude, and infectious happiness. I love life, particularly Canadian life. I also love to run…so running in a backyard is just fine with me ~ no need to go on walks where I might meet other dogs; however, going for walks is do-able using the leash and the right technique. I also have this galloping, goofy, distinctive run according to my fosters, who think it’s hilarious. Me? I just think it’s the way I run. The doc says I’m healthy so that’s good, right? Well, that’s it for me except to say I love your country. I love Canadians and I love Golden Rescue for making all this happen for me. Remember my name is ‘Oh Laugh’, named after the happiest creature in the movie ‘Frozen’ and the happiest Cairo Golden now living the good life in this magical wonderland you call Canada.

Olaf is currently being fostered in the North Toronto, ON area. If you would like more information about Olaf call our hotline toll-free at 1-866-712-8444 or email and one of our volunteers will be happy to return your call.
