Hi everyone…my name is Ellie and I’m almost 4 years old. I am having a real love fest with my amazing foster family who I adore. They love me so much as do all the wonderful people I have met at Golden Rescue. Thank you all for looking after me and making me feel safe. My foster mom describes me as a “beautiful, gentle, loving, well-behaved girl”. However, she also says that’s how she would describe me in the house. When I’m out of the house…not so much. Like a lot of Goldens, I have a high prey drive so critters make me a little crazy. I also go a little cuckoo when I see a passing car or encounter another dog. So, I’m told the perfect home for me would be a quiet place in the country with a big fenced backyard. There is also a feeling that I should get some training and socialization that could calm me down in the great outdoors. Don’t get me wrong, I love being outside but with all the outdoor distractions, I just need to learn to chill. Outside stimuli is my tragic flaw but maybe if we tackle this together, I could improve. Other than that, I’m well trained in your human ways. I know my commands. I can be left alone if you have to go out without me. You can touch me anywhere, loud noises don’t bother me, and the doc says I’m healthy. I can jump into the car easily but I don’t particularly like to ride in it. There is a school of thought that my issues with the car and outside distractions will get better over time as I get really settled with my forever family. I have only been with my foster family a few weeks and they have already seen improvement but perhaps with time, patience, and training I can be as good outside as I am inside. Paws crossed!

Ellie is currently being fostered East of Ottawa, ON. If you would like more information about Ellei call our hotline toll-free at 1-866-712-8444 or email and one of our volunteers will be happy to return your call.
