Oh, but they’re weird and they’re wonderful
Oh, Bennie, she’s really keen…
Hi everyone. I was just listening to Elton John singing my favourite song. As you probably have figured out, my name is Ben and I’m about 1.5 years old. I came from Istanbul several months ago. My amazing foster parents say I’m doing incredibly well considering that I arrived with few manners. That’s me on the dining table.

I’m told that’s a no-no in Canada. I’m pretty sure it would have been a no-no in Istanbul as well (ha-ha). In many ways (okay…most ways), I am still a pup with lots of energy to burn but I also love cuddling. I do both really well with equal fervor. I love people, especially men. I’m fine with women as well but it’s important that I have a strong leader. And I mean ‘strong’ in every sense…with my training and physically, because I can be difficult to walk at times as I’m a big boy. No other pets would be better for now, as I can be a bit pushy, I play hard, and I don’t seem to have an ‘off’ button. I still do a bit of mouthing but that’s getting better every day ~ sort of like the leash thing. I’m actually pretty good on the leash but if I see a critter, all bets are off and because of my size I could sweep you off your feet.

I’m also a hoover when it comes to finding things on my walk so, you’ll have to take treats along so you can trade my garbage for a treat (I’m getting the much better deal with that one, aren’t I?). I am a bit of a chewer but if you give me things that are okay to chew then I can stay away from things that aren’t. I am a happy boy, so I approach each day with 100% enthusiasm, so it’s crucial that I’m with an active family. Loud noises don’t bother me and you can touch me anywhere. I still need to learn the ‘drop it’ command, so for now I don’t like it if you take things out of my mouth but I’m never aggressive. My foster mom says I’m a big, handsome, funny, loving dude with lots of energy, love, and affection to spare. One of my favourite things to do is cuddle. She also pointed out that it might be best not to have young kids in the family for now as my enthusiastic play could knock them down and I do still mouth. The long and short of it is that I’m simply a big goofy Golden looking for an equally enthusiastic, loving family with a secure fenced yard as I have zero recall. Oh…gotta go. Here comes my favourite part.
