Hi everyone my name is Coal and these are my Coal’s notes…for any of you who remember what those were (ha-ha). I’m a 4-year-old male. You can probably guess that I got the name Coal because of my colour, right? Yes, I’m a Black Golden or what you folks call a ‘Flatcoat Retriever’. When I met the good people at GR, I was pretty much afraid of everything ~ people, other dogs, and life in general. With the help of my amazing guru foster dad, I have come a long way. I love people and realize that everyone only wants the best for me. I am still afraid of other dogs, but I am much better. You can take me out for walks and as long as you keep your distance from other dogs on the street, I’m fine. Speaking of walks, I’m a superstar on the leash, although hanging out in a secure backyard is probably my best thing. I do like being made a fuss over, so you can touch me anywhere. I’m gentle with my treats and you can leave me alone if you have to go out without me. I’ll probably bark in protest for a while but then I settle. I don’t like loud noises, but I don’t freak either. The doc says I’m a healthy boy and she said I’m a good-looking dude…I liked that part the best. My foster dad says: “Coal is a very sweet and loving boy who loves to get love from his humans and would sit by you all day for pets if he could.” I will end with my favourite Coal joke: Did you know that Neil Diamond used to be called Neil Coal…until the pressure got to him. Ha-ha!
