Happy New Year! My name is Duke and I’m a one-year-old pup. Life has been so exciting since I met the good folks at GR and I’m learning all your human ways. My fantastic foster mom says I’m doing really well while I’m being home-schooled. What I need the most right now is a consistent, loving, strong leader to look up to, which makes me feel happy and secure. I have a ton of puppy energy and I love to play, so a secure fenced yard would be ideal. My foster family has two Goldens and I love to play with them so another dog or two would be great for me. Cats, on the other hand, would be a bad idea…if you catch my drift. I love people but I must admit I’m nervous around children. I had a bad experience with kids so I can be growly around them. Everyone is saying I should be in a forever family with adults only…at least for now. I could use some more work on the leash thing but lately I have been using a halti which helps a lot. I am gentle with my treats. You can touch me anywhere. I have been left alone for a few hours without any issues. I had an operation (something you call neutering) so my foster mom hasn’t left me alone much since then. The doc says I’m healthy and I have been described as a “beautiful, loving, cuddly boy who listens and learns.” So, there you have it. I am a young energetic, enthusiastic pup looking for an adult family who will finish my training so we can have a fun wonderful life together. And incidentally, the name ‘Duke’ means leader, someone with a strong personality…which describes me to a tee. It’s a distinguished name brimming with regal charm and sophistication…and I like that description even more. My foster mom says I’m a gem and that any family would be lucky to have me.
