Hi everyone in beautiful GoldenRescueland. My name is Honey and I’m a 5-year-old boy. I know, I know, Honey is an odd name for a boy but there’s a story behind this. The Beatles wrote “A taste of honey…tasting much sweeter than wine” and my amazing foster dad calls me the “sweetest” Golden he’s ever met. Ah shucks! Let me tell you my story ~ I came from a place you call a breeding kennel. There I experienced no real human contact. I had never been in a house. I had never been on a leash. I had never had a toy. I had never had a dog bed. So, when the good people at GR took me into their program, I was terrified. I wouldn’t get out of the car. As a matter of fact, it was a struggle to get me into the car in the first place. I wouldn’t walk. I wouldn’t go pee. I wouldn’t eat. Everything was scary to me! However, I was the luckiest Golden on the planet because my wonderful foster dad understood my fears and helped me every single day to adjust to your strange yet wonderful world. I had no idea people could be so kind! Over time, I came to trust and love humans. I couldn’t believe what I had been missing all these years. I now understand this life. For example, you can touch me anywhere. I hardly ever bark. You can leave me alone if you have to go out without me. I am gentle with my treats. Loud noises don’t bother me. I am even not too bad on the leash thingy and, mostly importantly, I love all humans, children, and dogs (don’t know about cats). The doc says I’m healthy except I have this thing called a cataract on one eye. It needs tending to but an appointment may take months, so the good people at GR would like my new family to see me through this operation. The appointments are only available in the Toronto or Ottawa areas so my new family would have to live near one or be willing to travel. I know it’s a big ask but I promise I will pay you back tenfold with my love and gratitude. Well, that’s my story and I hope to meet you soon. I will leave you with the kind words my foster dad has used to describe me. He is the absolute best! “Honey is about the most perfect of dogs and companion as you will ever find. He deserves nothing but the best. He will be the most amazing family member…and he’ll make a positive impression on anyone he meets. Honey will be very, very missed in my home.”

Honey is currently being fostered in the Sault Ste Marie, ON area.  If you would like more information about Honey please call our hot-line toll-free at 1-866-712-8444 or email adoption@goldenrescue.ca and one of our volunteers will be happy to return your call.
