  • A lovely, happy boy who needs a strong trainer & leader
  • Has one speed ~ full on

Hi everybody…my name is Lumiere and I’m a 2-year-old boy. I was named after that candlestick in Beauty and the Beast but for the life of me I have no idea why. That candlestick is tall and skinny and wobbles around the stage always looking like he’s about to fall over. That sure isn’t me. I am strong, sure-footed, and certainly not skinny…and just in case you haven’t noticed, I’m actually a Golden, not a silly candlestick. Oh well, there are probably sillier names than that. In many ways, I am still a pup with a lot of puppy energy. I am just SO excited to be in your magical human world so I meet every new person or dog with gusto. Unfortunately, this includes jumping up on people, which I’m learning is a no-no but I keep forgetting (so no young children for now). I am also a big strong boy so I need someone who can handle me on the leash. I’m actually pretty good on the leash but if I meet a new dog or person, I will pull to say hello. I love exercise ~ walking, running, playing, zoomies in the backyard and anything that will help me burn my exuberant energy…then I settle nicely. So, I need a secure yard and I would not do well in a condo. Remember that adage ~ a tired dog is a good dog! I’m learning my commands and have become a real pro with ‘drop it’; however, my trainer says I need a strong leader who won’t let me get away with stuff. The doc says I’m a strong healthy boy. I am not a big barker. Loud noises don’t bother me. I’m mostly gentle with my treats. It would be best if someone is home more often than not because left un-checked I can be a little destructive (like chewing my dog bed or counter surfing). GR thinks I should be in a family that is very active. For now, it would be best if I were the only pet in the family…until I learn my manners. I do have a high prey drive so no cats please. My wonderful teacher says I’m a really good boy who just needs to mature a bit to calm my high spirits. He’s probably right. After all, right now I’m still a pup!
