Rosie #4554

Gender: female

Status: Adopted

We adopted our Rosie-Posie a year ago this month, shortly before her second birthday. We were about to be her fourth home in her short life, and needless to say, she was feeling anxious and insecure. She was also a bit skinny with digestive issues. The vet thought she had food allergies and put her on a hypoallergenic diet. It turns out that all she needed was time to settle in and more fibre in her diet (All Bran Buds did the trick). She still has separation anxiety, but it is slowly dissipating and, as she gains confidence, her true personality is shining through. Rosie is very playful, loving, and energetic. She is shy with people at first but warms up to them quickly and she LOVES other dogs. Having our friend’s mini-Golden Doodle for a sleepover is just the best ~ she can’t stop kissing him! Rosie has perfect recall (that is unless she spies a person or dog she knows), so she can accompany us off-leash on our daily hikes through the woods as well as on longer hiking trips. She is interested in wildlife, but doesn’t have much of a prey drive. When she once saw a porcupine, she just sat down and stared at it. One of her favourite pastimes is watching the blue jays, squirrels, and chipmunks out our front window in the morning while we have our coffee. Rosie loves the water and it’s a good thing since we live on a lake. She’s not as interested in swimming as she is in hunting for little sunfish in the shallows. Chasing a frisbee but so far, not retrieving it (sigh), is also on her list of fun things to do. Rosie travels well in the car, including all the way to Florida for several months in the winter. She is the perfect fit for us and we are so happy to have her!
