Hi everyone…my name is Gracie and I’m 6 years old. GR rescued me from what you guys call a ‘puppy mill’. Life back then was really scary. I had never been in a house before. I had never seen stairs before. I had never experienced any human kindness. The first time my amazing foster mom tried to pet me, I froze in shock. For me the early days of my rescue were terrifying; however, after a little while, I realized that all these new people only wanted to help me. Pretty soon I started to get comfortable with all the soft, caring words I began to hear and finally I started to get comfortable with belly rubs. No, let me change that ~ I started to LOVE belly rubs. Today, my lovely foster mom describes me as “the easiest, most loving, goofiest girl she has ever met”. Yes, I love my new life. I still get a bit shy when I meet new people but that only lasts a short while because in the GR world I now find myself in, everyone is so kind. So, here are few things I can tell you about my new self. I am now pretty good on the leash. I am doing well learning my commands. I am not a big barker. Loud noises don’t bother me. You can leave me alone if you have to go out without me. I love my food so I’m still a bit grabby with my treats but we’re working on that. The doc says I’m a healthy girl except I still need to get that operation you call ‘spaying’ and I’m told that can be done in the next month or so. I am really good with other dogs so GR thinks it might be best if I go to a family with another dog (I am not cat tested). Also, it might be best if there are no small children ~ crying and screaming do make me nervous although that is likely a short-term issue as I gain more confidence every day. I am not a high-energy girl so I’m really easy to be around and I try hard not to be a bother. After all, I want to show my appreciation to all you wonderful, kind GR people. I am so grateful you have given me this second chance.
