Hello! Here I am in your wonderful Canada all the way from Antigua. I am loving it so far and you have all been so kind, especially my amazing foster family. My name is Figgy, just like that Christmas song:
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding
And bring it right here.
Well, I am right here and I am SO grateful. Antigua was really hot and uncomfortable and there wasn’t much food so Canada for me is like being in a fairy tale. Food is plentiful and so is that stuff you call snow, eh? It’s great because it cools me down but I’m not quite used to it yet but I will be soon. You can probably describe me as the most laid-back boy ever. I am not a big barker. My energy is good but my chilling, sleeping, and simply hanging out is even better. I can be left alone if you have to out without me. Loud noises don’t bother me and you can certainly touch me anywhere. Now here’s the challenge. I have a thing you call ‘heartworm’. The doc says it’s totally curable and not contagious but it is around a three-month process during which time I have to remain relatively calm and have limited exercise (but I do still need some exercise). And, there will be a number of trips to the vet required. I am so sorry you have to do this for me ~ I hate being a bother. It won’t be too hard to keep me quiet during this time as ‘quiet’ is already in my nature. Yes, I’m a laid-back boy ~ nothing fazes me. I take the world as it comes. Oh, by the way, you’ll notice my brindle colour. My foster mom says it makes me ‘one handsome distinctive dude’. The thinking is that my parents were a Golden and a Mastiff. I certainly inherited the Golden personality as I love everyone I meet. I love all my canine cousins, although I’m a little timid around small yappy dogs. Well, that’s my story. Thank you again Golden Rescue! This is Figgy signing off, going for a nap. Typing really makes me tired.
