#4764 Fiona
Gender: female
The house was pretty quiet this past year after the loss of our beloved Daisy. Then lovely, sweet Fiona joined our family and charmed us all. She has such a gentle nature even though she snores like a buzzsaw. Our house feels like a home again. At first, we thought she was totally deaf, but then we noticed that she reacted to high-pitched squeaky toys and very loud noises so, not totally deaf, just hard of hearing. We found that we could use a whistle to get her attention when she wasn’t facing us and hand signals when was. Her love of treats has made training more rewarding. She has made friends with the neighbours and neighbourhood dogs. Sitting out on the lawn while I garden, she likes to take in the scenery. At first, she didn’t know what to make of squirrels. Now, like most dogs, she feels she must bark at and chase them. The heavy snow hasn’t deterred her from our walks and she likes to play ‘catch the snowball’ in the backyard. Fiona is a joy and we feel lucky and grateful to have her as a member of our family.
