Hi…I’m a 2-year-old female and my name is Skippy. I was a very nervous, fearful, and underweight girl when I first came into the GR program and I was terrified of all people, especially men. With the help of my amazing foster family, I have gained confidence, put on weight, and started to enjoy my walks. I am still nervous of many things but that is improving in baby steps as I understand how kind people are. I now like my long walks and I love be outside, mostly to chase squirrels. So, a big secure backyard would be a must for me. I love my foster family but I’m still nervous of any new people I meet until I get to know them and realize they’re safe. This will improve over time as long as there’s plenty of love and patience. I am not aggressive…just fearful. I am particularly fearful of men so it would be great if I could join a female-only home. I am gentle with my treats, I like the car, and I am learning that leash thingy. I’m not fond of loud noises and you can leave me alone if you have to go out without me, although I will initially bark. The doc says I’m healthy except I have a skippy back leg that doesn’t require surgery but is helped with supplements. I’m generally a sweet, calm girl if I’m not in an anxious situation. Here’s what my foster mom says about me: “Skippy is kind and gentle and a fast learner. She loves to run and could do well with a jogging partner. Skippy had a rough start and now just needs love, consistency, and patience for her to blossom into her best self.” I know, with time, I will be the best Golden companion ever.
