#4800 Murphy

Gender: male
After our 13.5-year-old precious ‘Parker’ passed away in February (we adopted him from GR 11 years ago), we thought we were done with large dogs. Hah…not a chance! Once a Golden has stolen your heart, you are under their squishy-faced spell forever. The good people at GR assessed our application to be a good fit for 2-year-old Murphy. Each of our four previous boys have had their own distinct personalities, special talents, and eccentricities, so as experienced Golden parents, we felt prepared for any challenge. No challenges with Murphy, who turned out to be a resilient, confident, well-adjusted, sweet, gentle, loving soul. Whatever insecurities he may have had (although none were evident) melted away the moment he met Jack, our 10-month-old Goldendoodle. After a circle sniff, the die was cast and they became Best Friends Forever. It’s the relationship everyone hopes for with a two-dog family. That first day, Murphy and Jack played all day. They continue to play all day, every day from sun-up until sun-down. When they tire of chasing and wrestling, they lay quietly together and play the ‘chewy face’ game. When they finally conk out from the day’s shenanigans, it’s on their backs with paws skyward ~ the ultimate sign of relaxation and trust. They are each others’ teacher, playmate, entertainment, and support. They happily share their toys, food, bed, and couch (well, we all share the bed and couch). It all feels so natural, like Murphy has always been here. Our house is once again a home overflowing with love, joy, and happiness thanks to GR and ‘The Murph’.
