Hi everyone my name is Maggie and I’m around 2 years old. You humans are funny. I looked up my name and Greek origins say that my name means ‘pearl’. If that’s the case, why wouldn’t you just call me ‘Pearl’? The good people at GR rescued me and I’m currently with a wonderful foster family and they are showering me with lots of love and attention. That’s sure what I need as I have to admit I am a ‘Nervous Nellie’…another name for me so you could have called me Nellie. I know everyone I meet only wants the best for me and I’m very grateful but I still feel afraid of loud noises or anything new. I do love being cuddled and being reassured that everything is going to be okay. It’s just going to take time for me to get comfortable in my new life. For now, I need a very secure home and yard as I am a flight risk…in fact, I have escaped once and it was pretty scary as even the police were chasing me. I may never be an off-leash girl but who knows what the future holds once my timidity wanes. I am feeling more secure every day; however, you would just have to be patient with me until I settle down and relax. I am getting the hang of the leash thing, which was something totally foreign to me. I hardly ever bark and you can certainly touch me anywhere. I am gentle with my treats and I’m an overall healthy girl. I would do best in a quiet home as the only pet as I need all the love and attention possible and if someone is home most of the time, that would even be better. There’s one thing that makes me a very typical Golden (well, a Golden wannabe)…I gobble my food as if it’s my last meal (tee-hee). Here’s how my foster mom describes me: “Maggie is such a sweet girl without an aggressive bone in her body. Once she is more socialized and less fearful, I’m sure her flight risk tendencies will disappear. She just needs a chance to feel consistent love and we believe she will be an amazing happy, loving girl.” Well said and I’m sure you’re right. Will someone please come to my rescue?
