Hi everyone, my name is Riley and I’m a one-year-old pup. When I first met the great people at GR, I had little training and have to admit I was a bit of a handful (okay, okay…more than a bit!). My guru foster dad took me under his wing and taught me manners. Boy, I had no idea there was so much to learn. He started with that leash thingy which was a mystery to me, but I soon got the hang of it and I’m getting pretty good as long as I have a strong leader to show me the way. I have great respect for and respond well to a strong leader. I would keep pushing the limits if you were a softie or a mushball (and that wouldn’t be good for either of us). I still have lots of puppy energy and a high prey drive so a big secure backyard where I can play fetch with you would be a real plus. My training is very important, so I would need someone committed to continuing my schooling so I can be my best self. I love people and other dogs, but my enthusiasm can be too much for more timid dogs. My foster dad says this will get better in time but for now I should be the only dog in the family with no small children please…and definitely no cats. I am not a big barker. Loud noises get my attention but I recover quickly. You can leave me alone if you have to go out without me and the doc says I’m a healthy boy. I am a curious boy so dog-proofing would be advisable. My foster dad is pleased with my progress and here’s what he says about me: “Riley’s slow lick kisses are soooo cute. He also has the most beautiful and soft eyes that look at you with so much sweetness and adoration.” That’s because I am sweet and adorable ~ hopefully that doesn’t sound too boastful!
