Hi everybody, my name is Winston and I’m a 7-year-old boy. When I first came into the GR program, I was overweight, nervous, sad looking, didn’t like being touched and I wouldn’t eat. Boy that’s a lot of stuff now that I’ve written it all down. In a few days, with the help of my amazing foster family, I started to eat and feel happy again. It was just that everything was so new to me I didn’t know what and who to trust. It still takes me a while to trust people in new situations but once I do trust you, I could be called ‘Shadow’. I love playing in the back yard, but I also love napping, so generally I’m a pretty laid-back boy. If I trust you, I am gentle with my treats and love being touched, but if I don’t know you, I need time to get comfortable. I am really good on the leash most times but if I smell a particularly interesting scent I do pull. I am fine in my own company so you can leave me alone if you have to go out without me. I am good with people I know and I’m actually OK with cats. With other dogs I generally tell them to leave me alone or I ignore them completely. I could still lose some more weight but other than that the doc says I’m a healthy boy. Well, that’s my story. All that writing has made me tired so it’s time for another nap. Boy, I do love my naps.
