Hi everyone…my name is Rooster and I’m a one-year-old boy. A ‘rooster’ is an adult male of a domestic chicken (yikes!). I am no chicken so I sure hope I was named after John Wayne’s role as Rooster Cogburn. Yes, I’m still a pup with lots of puppy energy. I am, however, pretty well trained in your human ways. I know sit, stay, come, heel, and my favourite word is ‘free’ because that’s the word my amazing foster family use to allow me to go to my food at meal times ~ and I do love mealtimes! I am still working on the leash thing and a gentle leader is helping me with that. I’m a bit aggressive/nervous when I meet other dogs but I’m working on that as well. My foster dad says he’s convinced I’ll get the hang of that in time, but for now no other dogs in the family would be best (same goes for cats). I love people but I can be nervous around strangers until I get to know them. I love my car rides and I love my life. I am gentle with my treats and you can touch me anywhere…and please do so OFTEN. It’s my next favourite thing after food. Loud noises don’t bother me and you can leave me alone if you have to go out without me. I’m actually ready to find my forever family. Boy, that was quick because I haven’t been with my foster very long. I have to admit I’m a little nervous about that but I’m also excited. Remember, I’m still a pup and I need patience with my socialization and leash work so you need to be my fearless leader. Might you help me through these last few steps?
