Hi everyone, my name is Rio and I’m a 4-year-old boy. Did you know that the word ‘rio’ means river in Spanish and Portuguese? I think I was named that because I’m just a river of love. When I first got into the GR program, I had never been in a house before. I was an outside boy. The early days with my amazing foster family were really confusing for me. It didn’t take me long, however, to understand that inside living was F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C! Initially, the TV scared me and I didn’t know how to handle stairs but all that’s behind me now. Thank you, because I am one happy boy these days and I love my life. I adore all people and I’ve been described as a Velcro boy. I love all my canine pals and I have lots of energy so can be a bit like a pup at times, so lots of exercise for me would be great as would a secure yard. I am squirrel-obsessed so probably cats would not be a good idea. The leash thing is still a work-in-progress and I must admit I’m a bit toy-obsessed. I don’t think I ever had toys before and I sure love them now. I am gentle with my treats. You can touch me anywhere. Loud noises don’t bother me. I’m not a big barker and the doc says I’m a healthy dude. My foster mom describes me this way: ”Rio is a quiet, gentle, handsome boy. He is such a pleasure to have around and is the easiest foster we have ever had.” Wow…great praise indeed. Thanks for teaching me how wonderful a ‘home’ can be!
