Event Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Event Location: Viamede Resort

It may have been a three-towel-soggy-doggy-day, but Golden Rescue friends, supporters, vendors, and volunteers proved once again that that it takes more than a little rain (okay…there was a lot of rain) to douse the spirit of those who believe in the importance of rescue. And it was also pretty clear that Goldens love mud ~ and the more mud, the merrier.

Ben Samann once again opened the doors to his beautiful Viamede Resort, which proved to be the perfect destination for humans and their Goldens to enjoy a fun-filled day of running free, playing games, and celebrating the dedication of so many supporters and volunteers.

A big thank you to our vendors Pet Gifter, The Little Barkery, and Paws Pet Fashion for sharing their lovely merchandise and to Alpha Paws and Peter Brown for his thoughtful approach to helping owners enjoy even more golden moments with their cherished family pet.

And this year’s event was marked by a very special occasion where we officially welcomed our Istanbul Goldens in a citizenship ceremony. Each Golden was presented with a citizenship certificate and a Canadian bandana to celebrate a new life with a forever family and a new beginning in a new country ~ a world away from the hardships formerly endured.

As usual, the games and costume competition drew a lot of smiles and laughs. We are extremely grateful for all the contributions and donations made to the live auction and the raffle. The 50/50 draw, the Golden Rescue General Store and our new loonie-toonie-loose-change-donation extravaganza were all successful because of your generosity!

Thank you to all the organizers and volunteers for a great, fun-filled day! And thank you all for coming, despite Mother Nature not cooperating. Next year we will have sun! Mark it in your calendars ~ Saturday, September 16th at Viamede! See you then.
