Hi y’all! My name is Hudson and I’m an 11-year-old senior statesman. When I first came into the GR program, I was really overweight and had a limp. I’m still pretty large (100 lbs) but as Elvis says:
“Big boss man, can’t you hear me when I call
You ain’t so big, you’re just tall that’s all”.
I still have a wonky leg but my limp is gone and I get around quite well. I can run no problem but on stairs I have to admit I’ve slowed down. I guess Elvis knows me pretty well because with other dogs I do prefer to be the ‘boss man’. So, when I’m around other alphas, I don’t like it so much and I won’t back down. Quiet, gentle, submissive dogs are fine with me, so GR thinks it would be best if I were the only dog in the family or with a dog that is a sweetie-pie. I also didn’t grow up with that leash thing so it’s a bit of a mystery to me. Although lately I have this special harness that makes it easier. I really prefer to run free in a big fenced backyard… that’s my favourite form of exercise. I love playing fetch with a ball; however, if you don’t have a ball, a stick is just fine with me and the bigger the better. I absolutely love people and basically, I’m a big loveable goofball full of the joys of spring. I’ve been around the block a few times so I know your commands and your human ways. I can be left alone if you have to go out without me. You can absolutely touch me anywhere. I don’t like loud noises but I don’t totally freak either. I am not so gentle with my treats but if you remind me by saying ‘gentle’, I will say, ”Yup, sorry I forgot.” There is no need for an alarm clock when I’m in the house. My tail bashing against the wall will remind you it’s time to get up and start the day. I would love to wake you up and start each fantastic day with you ~ are you up for that?
