Customs Paperwork Volunteers

Golden Angels Customs Paperwork Volunteers

Meet our ten unsung heroes ~ Priya Anand, Betty Ann & Mike Blackwell, Anubha Jhaldiyal, Margaret Macdonald, Angie Mason, Jeff Meiusi, Nicky Neicke, Rose Tersigni, and Rachel van der Walt. Some of the work we do at Golden Rescue is not glamorous and isn’t visible to most. Without our Customs Paperwork Volunteers, our international Goldens would not gain entry into Canada. They deal with all the customs paperwork, enduring long waits, and dealing with glitches that arise…and they do it graciously.…

Grant Gillespie

Golden Angels Grant Gillespie

Grant, along with his wife Kim and son Brett, are GR superstars. From the first skinny, stinky, dirty Golden they fostered, they have become GR’s special needs fosters. Henry, their first, had so many issues he became a forever foster giving the family unique skills in dealing with Goldens who have had ongoing health issues. Funnily enough, Henry did not know his name until one day Brett remarked that they’ll be ‘Lucky’ to ever find this boy’s real name and all of a sudden Henry’s ears perked up and he came running.…

Liz Fothergill

Golden Angels Liz Fothergill

Liz discovered Golden Rescue online and got involved by adopting her beloved Duke #2026, who became the perfect companion for their other Golden, Tara. Impressed with Golden Rescue, when Liz retired, she volunteered and started to foster. She was a ‘foster failure’ when her family adopted Riley #2563. Soon after that, Liz moved to New Brunswick, which in many ways was fortunate for GR as it helps our efforts to expand nationally and we can only do it with dedicated volunteers in various provinces.…

Media Relations Team

Want to Join the NEW Golden Rescue Media Team?

Golden Rescue has received a lot of media coverage over the years. Our stories are out of the ordinary, poignant and heart-warming and have resonated with millions of viewers. CTV, Global Television, CityTV, Breakfast Television and numerous online news outlets have covered a wide range of stories over the years. Reporters repeatedly have been drawn to our stories about Goldens who have been transformed from rags to riches. We are a small, energetic team of three so far and we’re looking for one more person to join us who ideally (but not necessarily) has a media/public relations background and who can keep us organized and up-to-date with our local and national media contacts. We also need someone who is comfortable calling news outlets and reporters to follow up on stories that we have pitched. You are also welcome to be involved in our strategy planning meetings where we brainstorm unique, creative ideas to keep Golden Rescue top of mind and socially interactive and develop ideas to bring greater awareness to our efforts. We are a fun, dynamic team to work with where our motto is ‘every idea is a good idea!!’

This is a volunteer role, which may take up to 10-15 hours/month.

Transport (Quebec, particularly the Montreal Area & Montreal-Kingston Corridor)

Transport help is always needed to move our Goldens from their past to their future new lives. To do this, volunteer drivers travel the province picking up our precious cargo from their previous homes, shelters, vet offices, etc. and driving them to their foster homes. Sometimes this trip is short and can be done by one person and other times the distance is greater, requiring volunteers to work as a relay team, picking up or dropping off at identified locations along the way. Obviously, this is a very important task. Drivers must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to use their own car.

Estimated time commitment: dependent on your time and availability.

Noelle de la Vega

Golden Angels Noelle de la Vega

Noelle is one of our newest, super enthusiastic volunteers. Noelle grew up with a Golden and she missed the daily smiles, quirky antics, and endless love that a Golden brings to your life. She very recently adopted Cleo #3238, who arrived here from the streets of Cairo. Noelle claims that Cleo is the sweetest girl you’d ever hope to meet, which makes her ideally suited to become a Golden ambassador. Noelle threw herself into her volunteer role quickly and became the Ottawa area’s event coordinator.…

The Chicago 8 Team

Golden Angels The Chicago 8 Team

Our volunteers frequently go above and beyond. Recently, a large group of volunteers put their heads together to help another rescue group in the U.S. It’s a long story about why the rescue group from Chicago needed our help but suffice to say they did and we, in the spirit of cooperation and rescue, stepped up. Julie Marriott, our fearless transport leader, organized these wonderful volunteers: Susan Archer, Val Barker, Joy Cairnie, Bob Cameron, Dan Cummings, Steffanie Delacour, Kim McGlade, Sue Montgomery, Lisa Moorhouse, Laura Mundinger, Meglyn Murphy, Danielle Robinson, Alen Schiller, Monica Seto, Christine Smith, and Sandy Tatarnic. …
