Education & Advocacy Team

Golden Rescue has re-launched its educational arm (or should we say paw?) and we are looking for energetic, motivated, and Golden-loving folks to help us spread the word about the invaluable work of Rescue. Our plan is to bring awareness to kids ~ in schools, social clubs and surrounding communities. We believe that the youth of today can make a valuable contribution to the future of Rescue. If you are interested in joining an energetic team and taking part in our upcoming educational initiatives, please contact us.

Time commitment: 10 hours per month

Wishbone Lottery Team Members

The Wishbone Lottery is our major fundraiser of the year, with spectacular prizes, generating a lot of interest from our supporters and Golden lovers in general. We need volunteers to contact supporters/adopters/fosters to help us sell tickets. You would be assigned a list of names to contact (primarily via email) asking if they would be willing to sell tickets. Once sellers confirm their interest, you would provide them with support and track their progress with follow up calls/emails, answering questions, and sending more tickets as needed. After the lottery’s closing date, you would reconcile sales for your group. Ticket sales are going to run from November to August and there is more of a time commitment at the beginning with the lottery’s ‘lift off’.

Time commitment: 10-20 hours at the beginning with periodical follow-ups

Golden Angels Robyn Scott

Robyn adopted Jack #578 in 2004 and when Jack crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2018, he was almost 15.  Robyn of course was broken-hearted but not ready for a new family member yet so she decided to answer a request for volunteers from GR hoping this might fill the void left by dear Jake.  Robyn handles airport arrivals as well as transport requests ~ she is a strong support to our operations team and shares the transport team’s second-in-command role with Sue. …

Golden Angels Ben Samann

Ben spent six years on Golden Rescue’s Board of Directors, primarily as our Picnic Chair but also as a vocal and supportive member of the Board.  Ben first got involved with GR after adopting Maggy #1622, a special-needs epileptic girl who charmed everyone she met.  Since then, Ben has adopted Toby #2000 and Daisy #2221.  Sadly, Daisy recently crossed the Rainbow Bridge but Toby still has the crucial job of greeting guests at the resort. …

Golden Angels Nancy Bourguet

Nancy is one of our newest volunteers in Quebec.  Nancy first encountered Golden Rescue when she was thinking of adopting.  The adoption didn’t happen so she decided to apply to become a foster.  As time passed, Nancy met some other volunteers and, at that point, she moved into high gear.  Nancy started to put her hand up for everything.  The first thing she did was organize Golden Rescue’s first Quebec event at Finnegan’s Market in Hudson. …

Golden Angels Karin Bauer & Bob Jean

Karin and Bob are two experienced foster angels.  They have had Goldens for over 20 years and know and love our goofy breed.  Over the years, they have become very proficient at training and providing the remedial work required to give our Goldens a second chance.  In fact, Karin has started her own pet care business partly from experience gained from fostering.  Karin and Bob are a great team with Karin handling most of the training needs and Bob handling the rest, including all the administration. …
